What is Polyethylene?
Polyethylene is a polymer formed from ethylene (C2H4), which is a gas having a molecular weight of 28. The generic chemical formula for polyethylene is –(C2H4)n–, where n is the degree of polymerization. A schematic of the chemical structures for ethylene and polyethylene are shown in (Figure 1.4).
HDPE Sheet or High Density Polyethylenesheet offers excellent sliding properties
and abrasion/wear resistance due to its low coefficient of friction.
HDPE Sheet is very tough and impact resistant, even at low temperatures,
it is lightweight, easy to weld but difficult to bond.
PE sheet is also called Polyethylene sheet .HDPE sheet is available in a range of flexibilities and other properties depending on the production process, with high density materials being the most rigid. Polyethylene can be formed by a wide variety of thermoplastic processing methods and is particularly useful where moisture resistance and low cost are required.
