Centrifugal Disc Finishing Machine
Introduction
Processing is carried out in an open drum (the process container) with a base plate in the form of of turntable or disc. The workpieces, together with a suitable polishing or grinding granulate, are set in motion by the rotation of the disc to create a toroidal stream inside the stationary drum. The contact between the workpieces and the medium generates a very intense finishing effect which is up to 20 times more efficient than can be achieved with systems such as conventional vibrators. Only we at Inovatec have the relevant know-how to finish very fine workpieces (< 0.4 mm) using our zero-gap drum system. This makes these models especially suitable for the deburring, edge rounding and polishing of delicate and intrate workpieces.
MACHINES FOR THE MASS FINISHING PROCESS
Mass finishing is a surface finishing process used mainly for metallic workpieces. When finishing bulk materials, the workpieces are placed inside a process drum together with a grinding or polishing medium and a normally aqueous mixture (compound). The oscillating or rotary motion of the drum creates relative motion between the workpiece and the process media. Heavy workpieces which can not be finished as bulk materials are processed in stream finishing or drag finishing machines.. In this machine type the workpieces are clamped in holders during finishing. With its well-equipped process development laboratory and state-of-the-art machines and technologies, Inovatec has been delivering perfect results for mass finishing for nearly 15 years.
Advantage
UNIQUE ZERO GAP SYSTEM
For the wet finishing of very fine workpieces. The gap between the rotating disc and the stationary drum can be reduced to zero. This enables very fine grain abrasive media such as quartz to be used and prevents any workpieces from becoming lodged in the gap.
CERAMIC GAP SYSTEM
With this system, the gap can be set to an accuracy of 0.05 mm since it is formed by using two ceramic rings made of SIC. this technology is best suited to dry finishing since it enables best results to be obtained by using very fine polishing granulates.
CERAMIC/POLYURETHANE GAP SYSTEM
This standard system from OTEC is suitable for the most common applications in wet finishing. The cermic/polyurethan combination prevents any workpieces from becoming lodged in the gap area, making the process very reliable and reducing maintenance requirements.
