About our Radiotherapy thermoplastic mask

Radiotherapy positioning mask is made of low temperature thermoplastic plate, is a new type of polymer polyester medical material, used for radiotherapy positioning, orthopedic external fixation, orthosis, rehabilitation brace. It's the most ideal external fixation material in radiotherapy positioning. As the material has the outstanding performance of not absorbing radiation, heating and softening. Besides, its unique shape memory function (secondary heating, re-molding or local heating reshaping when the molding is not satisfactory) enables easy positioning, precise repositioning and high patient comfort during the treatment.

Features and benefits

1. Low activation temperature 65-70℃ (149°F–158°F):

It can be moulded directly on the patient and does not become too soft or stretchy when overheated.

Can be activated in hot water or oven.

Cools down and hardens in a few minutes.

Short cooling time still allowing enough time for a correct moulding.

High comfort for the patient.

For easy handling of the fixation mask during the moulding.

No need to use silicone spray to prevent sticking.

Directions of operation:

1.Make sure the temperature of the water bath is between 65-70℃ (149°F–158°F).

2.Place the mask into water bath for 2-3 minutes till the mask becomes completely transparent and soft. Then take the mask out to the operation table , use soft towel to dry it quickly and softly.

3.Put the mask on the patient's position , stretch it at a constant speed and fix it on the pointed base board. The molding operation time is 3-5 minutes.

4.When the mask become completely hard , mark the cure position and take it out for treatment .

Precautions:
1. Make sure the water bath kept at 65-70℃ (149°F–158°F). When the mask is completely transparent, it means that it is completely softened, and the mask can be taken out.

2. If the mask is not completely transparent during heating and softening, the mask may not be taken out, so it will not to affect the molding effect.

3. When molding, it should not be overly forced or fixed too tight, so as not to cause the patient's discomfort during the cooling and hardening.

4. When the second molding is done, the surface of mask should be cleaned, then heated and softened, and the flat shape can be reshaped. Reshaped molding should not be used too many times, so as not to affect the shaping effect.
